Summary

Song learned from Fado. Allows Link and Makar to destroy special barriers, primarily the one blocking entrance to the Wind Temple. Makar also plays it to return power to the Master Sword.

Description

In TWW, after entering the cave in Gale Isle, Link finds a large stone with directions on it for the Wind God's Aria: Up, Up, Down, Right, Left, Right. When he plays it for the first time, an apparition appears to him in the form of the Kokiri Fado, explaining that he was the Wind Sage before his death at Ganon's hands. He also explains that the Aria will awaken the next Wind Sage, who, as with the Earth Sage, is his descendant and carries his instrument, a violin. The new Sage would be needed, along with the Earth Sage, to fully recover the power of Evil's Bane in the Master Sword.

When Link plays the Wind God's Aria to Makar, he learns that he is the Wind Sage. (Makar's instrument is mistaken for a cello by several characters, but it is actually a violin.) After Link takes him to Gale Isle, they are able to destroy the stone blocking the entrance to the Wind Temple by playing the Wind God's Aria together, in the fashion of the Earth Temple. They are able to destroy several other stones inside the Temple in this fashion.

After defeating Molgera and easing Fado's regret, Link, Makar, and an apparition of Fado play the Wind God's Aria, finally restoring full power to the Master Sword. With the Master Sword glowing with the power of Evil's Bane, Link is prepared to take on Ganon.

Note that the Wind God's Aria plays over the title screen, following the Earth God's Lyric.

Relevant Quotes

Fado, after Link learns the Wind God's Aria:

You wish to return the power to your blade,
don't you?
In that case, look for the one who has the same instrument that I hold, and teach him the song you just played.
Once you do, I'm certain the holder of the instrument will feel the blood of the sages awaken within his veins.
