[edit] Smith's Blade

Link's Grandfather, the best Human swordsmith in Hyrule, created the Smith's Blade shortly before the beginning of The Minish Cap. The weapon was forged to be given to the winner of the annual Sword Fighting contest held during the Picori Festival. Smith gives the blade to Link, entrusting him to deliver it to Hyrule Castle. Link complies, and the item remains in his care, unused, until Vaati reveals his true intent and the Picori Blade is destroyed. This event compels the King to send Link on a quest to restore the Picori Sword. To assist in his quest, Link is given the Smith's Blade. He unsheathes it, and it becomes the Smith's Sword, his primary weapon for the first portion of the game.
