Removed Section

I've removed the "Apocrypha Notes" section. This section contained the following text:

There are many similarities between the Wizard in AoL and the Wizzrobes. However, I am currently unable to determine whether all of these wizards were intended to be Wizzrobes or not. Certainly, no canon source calls them Wizzrobes. Perhaps the NES Atlas can give us some insight. On page 68, it says "To defeat the sly and quick Wizzrobe, Carock, Link must use Reflect." Carock is the boss of the Maze Island Palace, which is infested with other wizards like himself, who warp around, shoot a beam spell, and can only be defeated if their magic is reflected back at them. (One will see these called Magicians. This name is probably not official, since I think it was invented.) The Magicians and Carock both look very much like the traditional Wizzrobe in LoZ.

The similar Sorcerers (invented name once again?) appear in the Ocean Palace. (They are also called Wizards sometimes.) They warp here and there, throwing fire, and can be defeated with normal sword blows. They also look similar to the Wizzrobe, but less so because of their different face. As you can see, there is much confusion about these enemies, since it is unclear whether they have been given official names or not. I would not hesitate to accept all of these enemies as Wizzrobes, but to be absolutely sure I would need to see them specifically named in more sources.

The reason I have removed it is because the Wizards in AoL are called ウィズザール (Wiz'zahr) [compare this with ウィズロープ (Wiz'robe)]. The Japanese manual, I believe it was, states that Carock is a Wiz'zahr (Wizard, as it appears the English version calls this enemy).

I'm assuming that Wizard is the English name for Wiz'zahr because the Wizard page (as a stub) says that Wizard has slits for its eyes, which is the same as Wiz'zahr. The other magic-user is マーゴ (Mahgo), but this one's head is not covered.

So you think the evidence is good enough to consider Wizard and Wizzrobes to be different? Given Nintendo's history of inconsistent translations, I wouldn't be so sure. The Wizards in AoL do behave and look very much like Wizzrobes, and the American guide even calls Carock a Wizzrobe. The section you removed was a little outdated, but I think an explanation of name confusion should still be provided. The main thing to keep in mind is that they have different names in the Japanese versions: Wiz'robe in LoZ and Wiz'zahr in AoL. Also, Wiz'robe have an open hood whereas the Wiz'zahr have a completely different style of outfit. They may have similar attacking styles, but their names and clothing differ. I'd say they're as much the same as a Moblin and a Bokoblin are the same. --Lesoria 11:18, 28 January 2006 (EST)

Your point about the Japanese names being different is valid. Bbut I still think the name confusion section is necessary. There is a lot of confusion around the identity and names of the magicians and sorcerers in AoL, that I think clarification is necessary. Also, some fans might be led to the conclusion that wizards and Wizzrobes are the same, so simply leaving their speculative curiousity unaddressed wouldn't be fair. -davogones 11:27, 28 January 2006 (EST)
