Suggested changes

Hi Lesoria, thanks for joining and contributing so much content and ideas so soon. I've actually been thinking about the kind of changes you are suggesting, i.e. compiling a lot of stubs into one long article. This would be an excellent idea if this were Wikipedia. However, I'm not sure at this point if this is the way we should go on the ZL Wiki. The intent here really is to one day have a complete article for everything. It's true that this won't happen soon, but if enough Zelda fans get involved it could happen sooner than you think. In the meantime, your suggestion *could* be carried out in modified form, perhaps by putting compiled lists into the corresponding category. For example, the compilation of sword techniques could go into the sword techniques category. I also agree completely that magic spells and sword techniques should go in different categories. They are only together because that's how it was on the site's old encyclopedia. -davogones 04:43, 28 January 2006 (EST)

Thanks for the response! I'm trying hard to not suggest a whole bunch of radical changes, because I can understand why things are the way they are (and in many cases would have taken the same road myself to begin with). This is the main reason I put a sandbox on my user page, so I can experiment and show off possibilities, without actually touching anything.
I'm hoping to add much more, because I really want for there to be a very inclusive Zelda information place on the web, and Zelda Legends Wiki looks to be headed in the right direction. --Lesoria 04:49, 28 January 2006 (EST)

Categories for images???

Hi Lesoria. I've seen your hard work in just one day (more than I in two weeks). There's only one thing I don't agree with. You have put the images in categories! I think that there's no reason for putting them into categories, because they are inside the articles. But if they were to be in categories, they should be in different ones: i.e. The Aveil image of shouldn't be in Category: Majora's Mask Characters but, for example in Category: Majora's Mask Sprites BTW Have you read the articles I've written (Rauru and Ancient Sages)?--Arturo 13:03, 29 January 2006 (EST)

I think having the images in categories is a good thing. The only thing I want to know is how to customize the image display in the category list, because its overflowing the content area. -davogones 13:56, 29 January 2006 (EST)
You two decide which you prefer, and I'll undo the categorizing if that's what's decided on. I do agree that some of them should be in different catergories that I put them in (if they are to be in categories). I suppose I was mainly experimenting, and knew I'd get a reponse on it possibly saying to undo it. If you two decide that the categories could say, but with some sort of changes to categorization, I can look into where MediaWiki stores the table definition for the gallery.
What about having screenshots in related "Screenshots" galleries, official artwork in "Official Artwork" galleries, etc?
Again, if it's decided to remove them, I can run a script to go through an remove them easily.
(Believe it or not, I haven't had the time to more than skim the Rauru and Ancient Sages; I'll definitely read existing articles in more depth as I work on more articles in depth.) --Lesoria 19:23, 29 January 2006 (EST)

Japanese TMC names

I just wanted to know where you got the Japanese name for June from, because I've been looking for a Japanese resource for completing my translation tables of the other articles. I see that you have been very busy on the site so far, which is great! Only Davgones, Arturo, Keirin and me have been actively working on it. --Iron Knuckle 10:45, 30 January 2006 (EST)

I have a translation table written down on paper -- I should type it all up and put it in my sandbox so anyone can use it as well. But I have a busy schedule at the moment, so I can't just yet. As soon as I get it typed up and put up, I'll let you know! --Lesoria 20:30, 30 January 2006 (EST)

Oh, thanks a lot. I have similar table for the TWW, but it excludes the Japanese names. I can put it up, if you (and the other members) find it useful. BTW, do you have the Japanese game; or did you find those names from some different resource, if I may ask?--Iron Knuckle 03:58, 31 January 2006 (EST)

I don't have the Japanese version, but I've borrowed it and played through, taking notes on names as I went through (as well as getting names from various friends in conversations about the name), all written up in a notebook. Unfortunately, my writing's sloppy, so it's hard to read sometimes...
If you make your list available in some way, I can fill in all the Japanese names.
--Lesoria 04:01, 31 January 2006 (EST)

Do you know Japanese well enough to translate it? -davogones 20:19, 1 February 2006 (EST)

Yup. I might make minor mistakes, but those are the same kinds of mistakes I might make with English, just little things. For example, if a character's Japanese name is "Atukko", and the English is "Atook", I might accidentally translate the Japanese as "Atuuko" -- obviously I was tooking at the double-vowel in the English and carried that over to the Japanese by mistake. My reading of hiragana and katakana are solid, though. And I can read and comprehend a good deal of kanji, too: about 25 kanji characters =D 25 down, 10,000 left to learn...

La, la, la, la

You can remove "la" from la gran Hada and the italian name it just means the in Spanish and Italian.--Arturo 16:37, 1 February 2006 (EST)

Great fairies

There is a mistake with the Great Fairy. While the English and Italian are in singular, the Spanish and French are in plural. Although I'm not sure, I think the German is in singular too.--Arturo 11:53, 2 February 2006 (EST)

I took the text from where a Deku Scrub says it captured a Great Fairy. Unfortunately, I don't Spanish or French very well, but if I get a chance, I'll look through the game dialogue and see if I can find singular versions. --Lesoria 12:08, 2 February 2006 (EST)

I would have corrected it by myself, but I'm not very confident on my memory. I think that in Spanish it's "Gran Hada". Remember, if you have any problems with Spanish (or Italian, because they are really similar) ask me.--Arturo 13:27, 2 February 2006 (EST)

Email

Did you get my email, Lesoria? I sent it to your gmail account. -davogones 13:18, 4 February 2006 (EST)

Actually, I don't use e-mail ^_^;; The e-mail address used to sign up here was used simply because an e-mail address is required to sign up. Outside of wiki's, I've kept myself pretty much unavaiable for anyone to contact about anything. (Getting to know people always ends in trouble for me, so I avoid e-mail, IM, etc.) --Lesoria 19:34, 4 February 2006 (EST)

Erm, do me a favor and check your email just this once, please? -davogones 00:52, 5 February 2006 (EST)
Actually, it's kinda' not my e-mail address. It's owned someone close to me, and he checks it about once every two to six months. I'm that impossible to contact =P --Lesoria 02:52, 5 February 2006 (EST)
In that case I'll just thank you here for the sprite sheets you have uploaded so far on zeldalegends.net. They are great! I hope to see more of them in the future. I don't think you would mind if I would add some of the pictures at the bestiary? Because we don't have any FSA sprites for it yet; it just says 'tick'.--Iron Knuckle 04:40, 5 February 2006 (EST)
I actually wanted to upload the sprite sheets into a "FSA Sprites" category, but 1) there isn't one that I call recall, and 2) I wouldn't have the ability to upload them there if there was such a category. I uploaded them there so anyone can use them for anything. Unfortunately, my extraction program doeesn't deal with alpha-transparency properly (yet!), but that doesn't apply to the sprites I uploaded. The FSA Link uploaded to the wiki, and perhaps one or two others, however, do suffer from lack of alpha-transparency, and I hope to re-upload those once my extraction script has improved. I just wish, wish, WISH I could find where/how the game stores the sprites for other characters and monsters! I want that Malon sprite! --Lesoria 12:34, 5 February 2006 (EST)

Zelda article

I have written almost all the Zelda in OoT section. There's only one thing I cannot write. That's the Physical description of the Princess. Since I'm not very good at describing in my own language (Spanish), I can't do it in English. Could you please write it?? P.S. When you can, please write the NES sections. We need to write those articles as soon as possible. --Arturo 17:17, 4 February 2006 (EST)

Sure, I'll tackle it when I can. I've been busy working on improving my programs for extracting Gamecube sprites, and am still trying to find Malon's FSA sprite, but I should be due for a break within the following week.

Not that I'm all that great at writing flavorful descriptions, but practice makes perfe--er, practice means more and more writing which might not be that great =P

Staff

Since you're so adamant about being impossible to contact by e-mail, I'll have to ask you publicly. Would you like to be part of the Zelda Legends staff? Or at least a sysop on the wiki? I'm very impressed by your work. -davogones 05:47, 5 February 2006 (EST)

Even though I've done a lot of work here, it's still a lot less than others who've been here longer, as I've only been here a short time. It'd be best to wait until I've been here longer before I consider such positioning. Of course, if you up my abilities on the wiki, I won't complain. (Just don't let me anywhere near the main site's pages. I'm deadly when it comes to improper HTML. Showing me a poorly structured page is like Link in OoT smacking around a Cucco, if you know what I mean.) --Lesoria 12:43, 5 February 2006 (EST)
Proportionally speaking, you've done quite a lot already. I'd trust you completely as a staff member. I'll make you a sysop on the wiki for now. Feel free to make wild and crazy changes, as long as you run them by me first. -davogones 14:01, 5 February 2006 (EST)

Renaming dungeons

I don't agree with the renaming of dungeons, i.e. "Spirit's Grave" to "Spirit's Grave Dungeon." If you play the game and enter the level, the name given is "Spirit's Grave," not "Spirit's Grave Dungeon." --davogones 12:42, 7 February 2006 (EST)
