When he plays it for the first time, an apparition appears to him in the form of the Kokiri Fado, explaining that he was the Wind Sage before his death at Ganon's hands. He also explains that the Aria will awaken the next Wind Sage, who, as with the Earth Sage, is his descendant and carries his instrument, a violin. The new Sage would be needed, along with the Earth Sage, to fully recover the power of Evil's Bane in the Master Sword.

They are able to destroy several other stones inside the Temple in this fashion.
